What to watch in the next TEA/AECOM water park attendance report
The 2024 index put Chimelong first with 2.81 million visits and the top 20 at 30.6 million. The report covering 2025 is due in October 2026; here is what the numbers may show.
Every autumn the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM publish the industry’s only comparable attendance figures. The 2024 edition, released in October 2025, ranked the top 20 water parks:
- Chimelong Water Park, Guangzhou: 2.81 million (+0.1%)
- Aquaventure World, Dubai: 2.00 million (+11.1%)
- Therme Erding, Germany: 1.91 million (+2.7%)
- Thermas dos Laranjais, Brazil: 1.85 million (−5.3%)
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Florida: 1.82 million (−4.3%)
The top 20 drew 30.6 million visits, flat year on year. Europe grew fastest (+4.4% for the top 10), North America slipped (−1.8%).
Questions for the 2025 numbers
- Can Aquaventure World’s double-digit growth continue with Trident Tower now five seasons old?
- Does Volcano Bay recover from its 8.3% drop after winning Golden Ticket Best Water Park in 2025?
- Do Gulf newcomers Meryal and Yas Waterworld’s Lost City break into the top 20?
- Brazil’s Olímpia cluster (Thermas dos Laranjais and Hot Beach) is now the busiest water park destination in the Americas; does it keep growing?
We will update every park page within a day of the report’s release.
